Barbara Bollig Butts
Barbara Bollig Butts is a native of Westmister, CO and currently lives in DeRidder, LA.
I started making art when I was handed a crayon and a pencil, and I never stopped. I took a variety of classes in school; drawing, painting, crafting, and ceramics exposed me to many art forms. I love them all.
I began my life loving art but discovered I love scientific jobs. I worked in semi conductor clean rooms for years. Meticulous detailed jobs took over my life. Because I like the soft flow of water and paint on paper, art is winning.
While living in Colorado Springs, I learned stained glass. In Austin, TX, I studied ceramics under Linda Mosley at Clay Ways Studio. Recently, I’ve been teaching myself watercolor painting because of two artists whose style I admire: Jean Haines’ atmospheric art and Steve Mitchell’s spontaneous landscapes.
My mediums include pencil, color pencil, pastels, watercolor, and ceramics. Subjects I enjoy painting are botanicals, landscapes, animals, and anything that draws me in and touches my creativity.
