JuTina Singletary
JuTina Singletary is relatively new to the art world. As a Science and Social Studies teacher for over twenty years and grandmother of seven, she returned to college in her fifties to pursue a lifelong passion for the arts.
She has travelled throughout the United States, Europe, Asia, China, India, the Caribbean, Cuba, and Northern Africa gathering knowledge and skills from the people, in particular the artists she meets, in order to bring that information back to her Newton High School classroom where she now teaches high school visual arts classes.
Though JuTina teaches and practices various forms of media, her main focus over the past couple of years has been clay. “I love every step of creating something from raw clay: throwing, carving, firing, glazing and finally being able to display it as a work of art or use it as a functional piece of work.”
